These Are Not The Giant Enemy Crabs You Are Looking For
Back at E3 2006, game producer Bill Ritch promised PS3 gamers that the upcoming Genji 2 would be a realistic hack and slash game featuring battles “…which actually took place in ancient Japan” (his words). He then went on to demonstrate a game featuring “giant enemy crabs” (his words again), with a weak spot that you could attack for “massive damage” (and again). Yes indeed, lots of classic anti-Sony internet memes were born that day.
But as popular games site Kotaku have now pointed out, perhaps it is Sony who will be having the last laugh. They refer to a BBC story which reports the find of a man-sized sea scorpion. The story goes on to say:
“The size of the beast suggests that spiders, insects, crabs* and similar creatures were much larger in the past than previously thought.”
(*Kotaku’s emphasis)
Which means that, in fact, there were giant crabs once upon a time - Sony were right all along! Of course, us at TTB all know that Giant Enemy Crabs are real, because like all very real things, they have their own Wikipedia page. The more you know, kids, the more you know…
