New Screenshots Of Halo’s Upcoming “Heroic” Map Pack

Rat’s Nest Is Based On “Crow’s Nest”, The 2nd Campaign Mission.
Bungie have released some nice screenshots today of the maps that make up the upcoming “Heroic” map pack for Halo 3. This is the first DLC that they’ve released for the game, and these maps all look to be pretty impressive. The pack includes Standoff, which looks to be an updated Blood Gulch (or Coagulation even), Foundry, a small warehouse map for people who like forge mode, and Rat’s Nest, a huge underground base designed for larger games.
Anyone who knows me could be forgiven for thinking that I’m most excited about Standoff, but as it happens, I actually think Rat’s Nest (pictured above) will be the best of the bunch. A Big Team Battle map which isn’t Sandtrap should be a welcome addition, and hopefully the enclosed nature of it will help with the horrendous lag that Sandtrap sometimes suffers from. It probably won’t help save Big Team Battle from all the cheating and other general douchebaggery that goes on, though.
Anyway, that said, I have no issues whatsoever with ponying up my 800 points for all three when next Tuesday rolls around. If you’re more patient than I and are willing to wait until the Spring, the maps will become free just before the launch of the next (Legendary?) map pack.
In short, good times all around.

I know one person who wont be getting it yet…. Mr R. Horse got the Red Ring of Death yesterday.
Yeah, but at least it’s free to get it repaired… It’s only about a 2 week turn around in the UK, so if he sends it off now then it should be back by Christmas!
Indeed he rang up straight away.
Geekboy is screwed when his goes, he’ll have to ship it back to Japan!
A-ha! It’s all lies! I looked in the manual and the warranty is indeed international. Makes sense as the only part of the console that is regional is the BIOS. Doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference if MS need to replace the GPU and cooling gubbins.
My comeuppance… Thwarted once more!
Of course, if it ever needs an entire motherboard replacement I may end up with a new BIOS making it a UK Xbox. Not a big deal as most of my games are multi-regional anyway, and it means I can finally borrow some games from people that I probably wouldn’t buy otherwise (Forza for example). It’s an interesting situation.
