50 Years Of LEGO Bricks. Joy!
Well, actually the LEGO company itself has been around in one form or another since 1932, but the humble plastic brick we all know and love was patented on January 28th 1958. Coincidentally, the minifig (those little LEGO people) are 30 years old this year, too.
So, parties all round?
Well, if your idea of a party involves PDFs and shopping, then yes indeed. They’ve released this fascinating PDF file which documents some of the more important moments in LEGO history, and over 100 new items which you can buy in their awesome online shop, with a few historical surprises.
Of course, we all know that this was actually the pinnacle of LEGO’s success. How will they ever top that in the next 50 years?

Yay for Lego, I could spend all my money on that site and would be a poor but happy man.
My favorite models have to be The Indiana Jones sets and the motorised AT-AT walker that really walks! If I could live with never getting laid again I would so fill my flat with Lego!
Again…? Too much information right there.
You mean there was a first time?
Never getting laid again would be so worth it for a flat full of Lego. And I think you’re wrong - chicks dig Lego…
Perhaps i should do a lonely hearts ad like the top gear porsche challenge and see how many replies i get.
Something like “Lego Lover is looking to share his bricks and maybe more with the right Lady”
How about “…wants to have a rummage through your bits and pieces.”
How about “Lego lover seeks someone to help build his dreams”
That’s so romantic it makes me feel sick. Should work.
