Video Friday: Portal 2 Officially Confirmed
Author: Rees | Date: February 22, 2008And there we have it. Kimberley Swift, lead designer for Portal, has confirmed that there will indeed be a Portal 2. I guess that means that we’re talking about a standalone game here, possibly a full-length proper retail release, so I hope that it doesn’t lose any of the quirky charm of the original.
Now word yet on the story, what platform it’ll be released on, or in fact anything at all.
I’m still “making a note here” though – huge success.

This is good news!
Additionally, the interviewer is quite lovely and I am particularly fond of her fake laugh on about 56 seconds.
It is indeed good news. I was a little worried at first that they might go and fluff it all up and tarnish our lovely Portal memories – but then I remembered that at one point, people were saying exactly the same thing about Half-Life.
As it happens, they didn’t have anything to worry about – HL2 turned out to be one of the best shooters ever made!
If you paid attention to the half life 2 episode 2 ending, portal is part of the half life universe so it is logical to release another orange box-esque package
I paid attention. Eli died. I cried like a little girl. There was something about a boat and Aperture Science too, and the dialogue hinted that it would be the setting for Episode 3.
I don’t think the story crossover means that we’d need another Orange Box though. I mean, you have to play all the way through to the end of HL2:Ep2 to find out that Aperture are part of the Half-Life universe. It’s not like the the games needed to be together in one package to make sense.
Portal was just filler really. Damn good filler, and the Orange Box might not have sold so stupidly well without it, but filler nonetheless.
Anyway, just thinking out loud really.
