We Ski – Skiing Madness With The Wii Balance Board
Author: Rees | Date: March 9, 2008
Remember not so long ago when Nintendo announced the “balance board” and accompanying Wii Fit game? No? Well, it’s essentially a step with some weight sensors in it, and as it happens, it’s not just useful for those looking to lose a few pounds.
Namco Bandai are the first third-party publisher to “step up to the plate” (pardon the pun) and offer a game that takes full advantage of the upcoming mystical weighing-step – with a game known outside of Japan as We Ski. Apparently it’s not spelled “Wii Ski” because Nintendo don’t like that, and if that’s how the Big N want to roll, then so be it. The game features a full ski resort with a range of runs, ranging from those lovely green “bunny hills” we all know and love to more challenging blacks.
It also supports up to four players simultaneously, with challenges including slalom runs as well as a free skiing mode. The graphics don’t look too shabby either, with day and night skiing thrown in, too. The game will also include an extensive character customisation system with full-on accessorising, featuring everything from hats to goggles and even custom ski poles.
We Ski is expected to be released in America in the spring, although I can’t find any reference to a European release date anywhere. Show a little love for us Europeans, Namco Bandai!
