Eee 900 Coming Mid-April… And Here It Is Unboxed!
Author: Rees | Date: April 12, 2008
The 9-inch version of Asus’s hugely successful budget UMPC, the Eee, is supposedly due out sometime in mid-April. So it’s about time someone managed to get their hands on one and photograph the unboxing in all its glory, and that’s exactly what XEPC.org have done.
Here’s a list of improvements they’ve discovered over the old Eee 700:
- 1024 x 600 screen
- 1GB RAM
- 12GB SSD
- 1.3 MP webcam
- Larger touchpad
- larger 12v power brick for faster charging
All of which will be much appreciated… That resolution should be very usable on that 9″ screen, and 1GB RAM as standard is generous for a budget computer. Also, that 12GB SSD drive should feel positively roomy compared to the current 4GB/8GB offerings.
Unfortunately, This news just whets my appetite for my ONE even more!

Is 12GB SDD really enough for a Linux system? I know it’s running Xandros but what if I wanted to put SUSE or Ubuntu on it?
Are you mental? The whole of Ubuntu fits inside of 700MB!
