Peavey Release Full Size, Wooden Guitar Hero Controllers

Author: Vince | Date: April 16, 2008

Those clever chaps over at Peavey Electronics have answered every ‘Guitar Hero’ fans prayers, they have released a series of Guitar Hero controllers called the ‘AG Riffmaster’. These babies are full size wooden guitars with a set of GH buttons on the fretboard, no cheap tacky plastic here… There are 20 different designs available, including signature designs from Kiss, Megadeth, Pantera, Ozzy and Lynyrd Skynyrd… You can even upload any JPG file and create your own skin! Rock on!

Now to the nitty gritty, these bad boys are currently only available for pre order in the PS2 (wired) flavour, with PS3, 360 and Wii versions coming later this year, and they will set you back a staggering $399 each! As cool as these are, at £200 a pop I’m (begrudgingly) going to have to give these a miss, but if your interested take a trip over to the Peavey website for more details. No details on whether these will work with ‘Rock Band’ either.

You could buy a knackered old electric on ebay for £20 or so, gut it and cram the GH electrics in there yourself. It’d be a fun electronics project and you could customise it to make it look however you like – a bit like this one which is totally sweet.

Strange how they didn’t go with fretless necks on these – the frets make them look a bit odd. It’s also strange that you didn’t go with the Lynyrd Skynyrd one for the pic!
