GTA4 Cheats Announced… My Interest Dies A Little

Today news has leaked out that the thing that destroyed GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas for me has been included in GTA4… The cheats! Once again I will have to sit and watch people not play the game, simply just give themselves loads of health, guns and cops chasing them, then kill them all, rinse and repeat. I really must question why Rockstar has done this? The game is huge, like 100+ hours huge… Do people really need to cheat to get enjoyment from the game? Plus, now there is online multiplayer and all the little mini games to keep you occupied.
15 cheats have been leaked so far, all accessed by dialing certain numbers on Niko’s mobile phone. Luckily for us, some of the achievements (but not all) will be disabled when the cheats are entered, so at least all us 360 owners will have to play the game legit (well almost…).

Why spend £40 on a game and then not have the fun of playing it and unlocking stuff? That’s just crazy talk.
I’m still marginally interested in GTA IV, but I certainly won’t be cheating, and I probably won’t be playing it until I see it cheap enough
Cheats are so inconsequential compared to how awesome the games are. Get over your self-righteousness and actually try them. It’s like complaining that BMWs have so much horsepower you can hurt people with them…

I am now in possession of GTA IV and played a good half hour or so at lunch time. I know, I know… I went from “didn’t care” to “might get it one day if it’s cheap enough” to “buying it on launch day” – yes, I am mental.
Anyways, from what I played it seems pretty awesome. On the downside, the car control seems a bit wonky and the story starts off a bit slow, but I can see that it’s got loads of potential and in half an hour I wasn’t crashing into everyting, and the story was starting to pick up. Nearly phoned in sick for the afternoon but my boss knew I just got GTA so I don’t think I’d have gotten away with it…
The moral is: don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it! I resisted CoD4 for so long because it was just the latest “cool” game, and I’m glad I finally gave it a go. Same goes for GTA4…
It’s good! I’m glad I missed out on the last few as I’ve heard that they’re pretty boring, so it all still seems novel and interesting to me. Hell, there aren’t any other new games coming out in the near future that I’ll be getting (as Rock Band is region locked and I ain’t paying God-knows-how-much for the shipping from Japan) so it gives me something to play on my neglected 360.
But does “IV” live up to the hype?
Probably not. As I am not blinded by the GTA fanboy reality distortion field, as most of the reviewers on the internet seem to be, I can confirm that it’s not “the best game ever made” at all. Hell, so far, from what I’ve seen, I can honestly say that I enjoyed Crackdown more. That said, GTA is a load of fun and I certainly don’t regret buying it – I’d gladly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of free-roaming game.
So there we have it. Once I’ve had a chance to play it a bit more and try out the multiplayer, I’ll write up my proper review. But rest assured it won’t be tainted by any kind of orgasmic joy I have for finally getting my hands on the game, as I only really decided to buy it today after being pretty disinterested so far.
Incidentally, the best game ever made was Rise of the Triad.

If you do not like cheats, then do not use them. I mean really, this article truly is a waste of space. I would have been much happier if google did not pick this one up. Really, write a complaint about cheats in a game? … There is several ways to play GTA, always has been. One of them, is taking turns activating the cheats once and going on a rampage. See who has the longest. Many laughs this way. I like the first comment, the guy who never played the other ones but decided against playing this one because it has cheats in it…
I am fully aware that I can play the game without the cheats, my problem is that GTA3 & VC were ruined for me by having to watch people just sit there for hours using the cheats and killing the cops/army. It may not have been so bad if the pad was passed around, but normally it was just one person playing, and it was soul destroying. I even picked both of them up a few years later in the hope that I could put it all behind me, but frankly the minute I booted the game all I could think of was how lame it was…
This does not mean I will not be buying or playing GTA4, I certainly won’t be paying full price for it though. Also I think it’s a bit lame that you can still get some of the achievements with the cheats turned on.

I am well aware that this is how you feel as it is a conversation we’ve had several times previously. But surely, no matter whether or not you do enjoy the game, it’s worth feigning enthusiasm for it simply to piss off tim…..
Totally agree about the lameness of achievements being completable with cheats on!
Also discovered something else uber gay. As previously mentioned, I do enjoy some of the more fun cheats (flying cars etc..) as a way to get extra playability out of these games when I’ve completed them without. However I have checked the cheats lists, not to use, but just to see if there were any new funky ones that made me smile. Utter disappointment! Not only is there nothing new, but they’ve removed almost all of the old fun cheats. All there is now is spawning cars and health and weapon cheats! (Perhaps this is just because those other cheats are not yet released, though I can’t see why that would be). Gay. Gayer than a gay mans gay bits on a very gay day….. Rockstar, you have lost some respect from this fat GTA addict. Poor show….

cheats are here to give us people with a life to move on to another game. i came to this website by accident looking for cheats on google and cant help but tell you miserable little shits to enjoy your life. wake up guy there is more to life use the cheats beat the game quicker. take your free time and try to get a blow job. go to a social place and find the hottest girl in the room and dont give up til you get that fucking head. even if it takes you three weeks. think about it how many times have you turned on a video game and thought damn this is impossible or this is way too hard. if your not used to it yeah its rough. but like everything you have too practice. any of you lazy assholes up for the challenge. i promise if one of you guys finally get that blowjob you will thank god that some shit talker got on here and help motivate you.
listen if you use a couple cheats god is not gonna be mad. with the cheats on every game you play in a year. that will give most of yall more than enough time to take this challenge. if you need a few tips i am here for ya bro bro. i will come back to this website everyday for a couple weeks. just post a comment and say “lets see what you got asshole”. What I have never said:
1. GTA4 sucks,
2. That everybody else should hate it,
3. That I will never play the game,
4. That I was not looking forward to this game
What I do say…
1. Cheats ruined GTA3/VC/SA for me,
2. That isn’t 100 hours+ of gameplay and multiplayer enough to keep you entertained without cheats?
3. That watching people play GTA3/VC/SA for hours and hours without them as much as attempting the actual missions is not fun!
On top of that, the people that know me know that I love to have a good argument/debate, to the point I will take a standpoint even if I do not 100% agree with what I am arguing for… You see, I know people who feel far more strongly than I do on this subject, and in a way I am taking their view here, not mine, and it amuses me how people have reacted… I mean some of you have spent more time writing a reply than I did writing the article in the first place! Plus, wasn’t it nice to actually find an article on the web that didn’t just read:-
“OMG, GTA4 is the shizzle, 110%, 15/10, ******, A++++++, best game ever made, nothing can be better!”
So my final thoughts on the matter… I’m sure I’ll play GTA4 at some point, I’m damn sure I’ll play it without the cheats when I do… But until then, I really don’t have any interest in sitting and watching people play this game.
Agree with you 100% and was never under any illusion as to your perspective on it. I’ve not really got any thing to add, except GTA 4 sucks because you have to drive on the wrong side of the road.
If they made a GTA 4 London version (or even Sydney or Tokyo version) then we wouldn’t have to drive on the wrong side of the road and I would probably buy a copy of it. GTA set in America doesn’t intrest me.
After reading the new post on Fable being slightly British hopefully we will get to drive our Carts on the right side of the road.
It’s also third person, so it’d probably confuse you anyway.
i heard there is a cheat that cancels out all other cheats go to the strip club and type in you phone stp 555 0150 what happens is the strippers go nude from then on and stops all other cheats being activated
Dude, if I pay 59 plus dollars on a game I should have the write to use the cheats if I want to. Matter of fact, games that don’t allow you to cheat are crazy. Why make people game hard if they don’t want to. I’ve played GTA 4 using to different gamer profiles and I use cheats on one. The other profile is purely for the story and completing the game while the “cheating” profile is just for kicks. Rockstar isn’t forcing you to use the cheats, but they are there for those who enjoy over the top craziness. Get off ya high horse and forget that I’m a true gamer bull. Games are meant to be fun. Some people like cheats. Freedom of choice bro all games should give us that option.

So what you are saying is games like Crackdown, Halo 3 and Dirt are flawed because there is no cheats?
I don’t agree about making games hard. Are you saying that in games that don’t have cheats, you should play them through on easy? I thought the challenge of beating the game was what made it fun in the first place.
Like you say though, it’s all about freedom of choice. If some people want to cheat, that’s up to them. I’ve resisted the urge to chek out any of the GTA cheats as I’m only 50% through the story, and I have enough stuff to do in the game as it is!
I also agree with Mr Geekboy an unchallenging game would just be very dull or like chasing the dragon? I have had no urge at all to look up any cheats yet for GTA4 though i might be tempted if there was one to stop your friends calling you up to go bowling or the strip club when your on the other side of the map to them!
I think I might ignore the achievement for having your friends like you above 90%. I’d go as far as thinking that anyone with that achievement must really have alot of time on there hands or no life at all, if they can keep all them people happy as well as playing the rest of that fantastic game?
My plan is to wait until just before the very last mission, then go on a mad rush making all my friends happy before I complete the game… Genius eh?
Although I can’t seem to call Roman anymore because I ignored him every time he called me? Or maybe he’s vanished because of something to do with the story that I’ve been mostly ignoring.
I have to say, cheating during gameplay like infinite health and money during missions
takes a little away from the experience but I do hope they keep up posting new cheats eventually , like low gravity mode and stuff like that, that was the shit in vice city and san andreas after you finished the game.
Cheats codes are just a way to test the game dude.
I really like GTA4 and i think its a game that has to be finish without cheats codes and it has to be done 100%.
