ONE Beta Units Shipping Soon

Author: SmellyGeekBoy | Date: May 13, 2008

Elonex\'s ONE, Britain\'s First Sub-£100 Laptop, In Ice White

You may or may not already know this, but I’m in the somewhat privileged position of being a beta tester for Elonex’s ONE, pictured above. For those not already familiar, it’s Britain’s education-oriented answer to the Asus Eee and OLPC XO-1, and will hopefully soon be available for £99 ($200).

Anyway, I’m off on holiday in the middle of June and I kinda wanted to take the ONE with me, so I sent off an email to Elonex’s sales people today. I received a very prompt and helpful reply from their sales director, Stuart Smith, regarding the beta units’ availability:

“…late May early June. However, in my opinion, it is more likely to be June.”

Hopefully that means I’ll have my beta test unit in time for June 10th so I can give the thing a bloody good field test in a very hot (I hope) field in France. As I’ll be getting the bluetooth-enabled model, that should hopefully mean gratuitous wireless blogging too.

Holidays, eh?
