Fable 2, A Very British Affair
Author: Vince | Date: May 14, 2008
Stephen Totilo from MTV’s Multiplayer blog had the chance to see Fable 2 in action and grab a few words with its creator, Peter Molineux. The first thing he noticed was how very British Fable 2 is… Like how all the characters are voiced by brits, how it contains gratuitous flatulence (because apparently us brits still love our fart jokes!) and because the opening sequence ends with a bird crapping on your head… When asked about Fable ‘britishness’ Peter’s response was:-
“if we want to sell a million units in Britain, we just introduce farts.”
Lionhead’s PR lady, Cathy Campos, was quick to defend Fable’s British theme, saying:-
“a) the game takes place in an era that would have preceded America’s founding and that b) in her and Molyneux’s country they have to sit through all sorts of television shows from the U.S. that don’t even have one British speaker”
Of course, Peter was quick to point out that not everybody in the game had a British accent, one of the major characters in the game is American, but he wouldn’t reveal who…
Fable 2 is due for release later this year exclusively on the Xbox 360.
