Gears Of War 2 Doesn’t Like Achievement Whores

Cliffy B, head honcho at Epic Games, let slip something pretty interesting while speaking to CVG at Microsoft’s game summit yesterday. Basically, Epic are limiting the amount of achievements a player can get in any one multiplayer game, as well as implementing some other anti-achievement-whoring features that I can’t quite get my head around yet. For example:
“If you’re going for headshots, you get one headshot that counts and any other headshots won’t count towards your Achievement, so players don’t just play to get headshots the entire round just to get Achievements.”
I take that to mean that the online achievements, whose sole purpose is to force those whores to play gratuitous amounts of multiplayer to make a game look popular, are now going to take even longer to get for the rest of us. I’m sure it doesn’t need to be said just how stupid multiplayer achievements really are, and I think that, if done wrong, this has the potential to make those whores even worse.
What’s worse than finally connecting to a game, only to find it full of 12 year olds who just want to douche all the achivements, after all?
