New Eco-Friendly Rechargable Batteries, Recharged With Pee?
Author: Vince | Date: May 19, 2008
So those crazy Japanese bastards have done it again… This time they have invented a battery that is recharged with urine dubbed NoPoPo (No Pollution Power). The process it based on new technology which uses liquid as a catalyst to create the power.
“The basic principle is that a mixture of magnesium and carbon reacts when mixed with a liquid to produce, in the case of the AA battery, up to 500 milliamp-hours (mAh) of life.”
The batteries themselves can only be recharged 3-5 times before needing to be disposed of, but because there is no mercury or other harmful materials, they can be happily thrown away with the regular rubbish, also they will hold their charge for up to ten years! They are currently available in AA and AAA sizes, but more are in the works.
But before you all rush out to buy them, sadly they are only available in Japan… Tragedy…
