New Xbox 360 Orange Box DLC On The Way

Author: SmellyGeekBoy | Date: May 25, 2008

Orange Box DLC Is Coming To 360 Imminently!

There’s no denying that The Orange Box was one of the biggest and best games releases of last year - with everything from Half-Life 2 and it’s two episodic sequels to the smash hit Portal and cult multiplayer game Team Fortress 2, there wasn’t anything not to like about the release.

Well, actually there was - the complete lack of downloadable content that has come along since then.

Game devlopers Valve are looking to change this, however, as their top dog Doug Lombardi, speaking at EA’s Spring Showcase, announced that they did indeed have a DLC pack in development, and that the PC TF2 content would be included, including new map Goldrush and new achievements.

Here’s where it gets interesting, however. He also let slip that Valve have been waiting for a “critical mass of new content” before making a release, implying that the DLC will include some other stuff - and it probably wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think that maybe Portal will be getting some downloadable love too. Maybe those Flash maps we heard about not so long ago?

We’ll have to wait and see, as apparently an announcement is imminent. Whether Microsoft will allow the new content to be free, as it has been on the PC, remains to be seen. My intuition says probably not.

And on the PS3?

“We’ll probably be making some announcements pretty soon on what will happen with the 360 stuff. I don’t know that–unfortunately I don’t know that any of that will make it to the PS3.”

Let’s hope that it does, as more Orange Box love can only be a good thing.
