The Who Tracks Finally Announced for Rock Band

Author: OwningXylophone | Date: July 1, 2008

9 months on, or almost 9 weeks for us Europeans, and the long promised The Who DLC for Rock Band has finally been announced.  Sadly it’s not the entirety of the ‘Who’s Next‘ album as originally promised, because it seems that the original master recordings for half of the album have gone walkabouts, but instead is a 12 song ‘best of’ as compiled by Pete Townsend and Roger Daltry.  The band had this to say on the subject:-

“We’re really pleased to have our songs featured in Rock Band,” says Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who. “It allows our established fan base to interact with our music in a way that’s fresh and exciting, while also exposing our songs to new audiences.”

“I’m a fan of Rock Band,” says Who guitarist Pete Townsend. “I play the game with my son and girlfriend and love the way it brings different generations together through music. I like the idea that people of all ages will be having fun playing our songs.”

The confirmed tracklisting is as follows:-

  • “Amazing Journey”
  • “Baba O’Riley”
  • “Behind Blue Eyes”
  • “Eminence Front”
  • “Going Mobile”
  • “Leaving Here”
  • “My Generation” (LIVE)
  • “Real Good Looking Boy”
  • “Sea & Sand”
  • “Summertime Blues” (LIVE)
  • “Who Are You”
  • “Young Man Blues” (LIVE)

Thankfully, the live tracks are taken from the 1970 gig from Leeds University Refectory that were later used for the ‘Live at Leeds’ album, so are not just shoddy live versions of great songs.  The songs are due to be released on 15th July to coincide with a special celebration of the band on VH1 and will cost 160 points each ($1.99) or 1600 ($19.99) points for the entire pack.
