E3: Avatars on Xbox 360… Also Major Dashboard Update!
Author: Vince | Date: July 14, 2008
Yep, those long rumored avatars are coming to an Xbox 360 near you soon… This is quite literally breaking news from E3, so more details later, but there is a real Wii feeling going on and frankly I don’t like it. Plus there is a total overhaul of the dashboard coming this fall with some lovely floaty 3D slides (pictured above).
John Schappert, head of Live services at Microsoft, had this to say:
“The new look and feel is more fun, more social, and simpler to use. You’ll have a Gamercard, but there’s also something new… it’ll be more personal with avatars. Express your personality and style, share it with your community and friends. … pants, shirts, hats… everything you need, it’s all here.”
We also learn that the first games to support the avatars will be movie quiz game Scene It: Box Office Smash and a game called You’re In The Movies. Scene It supports the big button pads, while YITM supports the vision camera, which it will ship with.
