E3: The Trailers – Day 1
Author: Vince | Date: July 15, 2008Rather than leaving you to hunt all of these little buggers down on Youtube or GameTrailers, I have saved you the effort and collated most of yesterdays trailers from E3.
Fallout 3 (360/PC/PS3)
First up we have Fallout 3 from Bethseda Softworks. After buying the rights to the series a while back they appear to have served us up a post-apocolyptic Oblivion, which is looking remarkably slick. For a better view of the gameplay take a look at the live demo from E3 yesterday on Gametrailers. It was also announced that there will be exclusive DLC for the Xbox version of Fallout 3.
Resident Evil 5 (360/PS3)
Resident Evil 5 was next up… Set in Africa, lots of zombies, lots of shooting, lots of heat, nuff said. RE5 will also include an Army of Two style co-op mode, where Chris and his new partner have to work together to overcome some challenges. More gameplay footage here.
Fable 2 (360)
Fable 2, Peter Molineux’s very British affair, is set to lauch later this year and will see playes looking after their dog, raising a family, socialising with friends, gambling and apparently there is an actual game in there too, blimy! More gameplay footage here.
Gears of War 2 (360)
Marcus & Dom are back to save the world from the Locust once again in Gears of War 2 from Epic. Expect more of the same gore and violence from GoW 1 now with added flamethrowers, human shields and Brumak riding! See the E3 demo walkthrough here.
Halo Wars (360)
Ensemble Studios RTS prequal to the iconic Halo series, Halo Wars, is coming along nicely and is currently scheduled for early 2009. No major details on this one I’m afraid, but you can catch a full gamplay trailer here.
Guitar Hero: World Tour (360/PS2/PS3/Wii)
Activision were on hand to show off their upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour game, but in the shadow of Rock Band 2 does it really stand a chance? Sure it has the option to make your own music, but versus 500 tracks for RB2 by the end of the year, it’s a no brainer for me.
Rock Band 2 (360/PS2/PS3/Wii)
My most eagerly awaited game of the year, Rock Band 2, was showcased yesterday. This included Harmonix revealing the entire 84 song track list, boasting about the new Guns ‘n’ Roses song in the game and that they grabbed AC/DC. They also dropped the bomb that there would be an additional 20 free songs from download once you have purchased the game. See the entire E3 Rock Band 2 reveal here.
Lips (360)
Microsoft revealed their long rumoured Lips game yesterday, which is their answer to Sony’s Singstar games. The game will ship with 2 wireless, LED encrusted mics that are motion sensitive. No word as to when Lips will hit the stores, or if those wireless mics will work with Rock Band?
Dawn of War 2 (PC)
Relic have released a new trailer for their upcoming RTS set in the Warhammer 40000 world, Dawn of War 2. The single player will shift focus from controlling a full army down to controlling a few squads of men, making the game far more tactical and skirmish orientated. The game will boast destructable scenery, a cover system and a new race (the Tyranids perhaps?).
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise (360)
Rare revealed some gameplay footage yesterday for Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, which is shaping up to be a very pretty game, but it’s still a garden simulator!
Final Fantasy XIII (360/PS3)
A million PS3 fanboys cry and a million 360 fanboys cheer, as Square have announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be coming to the Xbox. More details on the story here.
You’re in the Movies (360)
Microsoft have teamed up with Codemasters to bring you You’re In the Movies, a game that utilises the live vision camera and makes you play some crazy mini games before splicing all of the footage together into a strange b-movie… The concept seems very interesting, mark this as one to watch!
Geometry Wars 2 (360)
Bizarre are back with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 for XBLA. Not much can be said about this really other than it has confirmed 4-way multiplayer and packed full of geometry for us to destroy! GW2 will be released on August 6th exclusively on XBLA.
Portal: Still Alive (360)
As we reported here on TeamTeabag yesterday, Portal: Still Alive will be releasing this autumn exclusively on XBLA. The game will be the original Portal game with additional maps and gameplay modes.
