Guitar Hero: World Tour Will Support Rock Band Instruments

Author: Vince | Date: July 16, 2008

Activision have announced that their upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour game will support all 3rd party instruments.  That means that the Rock Band 1 instruments will support the new game, along with the premium ‘Ion’ drum kit.  No word on if the game will support the Rock Band 2 instruments as they are not currently available for them to test with, but it would seem stupid for them not to now.

Also, an automatic update released today for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will allow you to use your Rock Band Stratocasters in the game, but not in Guitar Hero 3 strangely…

Well, this kind of shifts things for me, as there was no way I was shelling out for another set of instruments to play GH:WT, but now I know I can use my trusty RB axes and drums it becomes a whole different ball game, providing you can buy GH:WT without instruments that is!

Did you just say “trusty” in the same sentence as Rock Band instruments? Wow, I never thought I would see that happen…

Well I say trusty as a figure of speech… Although in my opinion the RB guitar is way more reliable than the GH3 one (mainly due to that stupid removable neck!)

I thought they were very sturdy actually, no complaints at all here!

I can tell you the guitar and microphone defiantly work I’ve not got the drums though so couldn’t say for certain but I’d of thought so, Harmonix are nice like that! The tappy slidey bit on the guitar neck doesn’t work with Rock Band but I was never to keen on it any way? I like that authentic clicky sound as I strum, honest!
