You Got Portal In My Bioshock – PS3 Version Gets DLC “Rooms”
Author: Rees | Date: July 17, 2008
The PS3 release of Bioshock will feature exclusive downloadable “challenge rooms”, Shacknews is reporting. Essentially, players will use a combination of plasmids and various “other abilties” to complete timed challenges, which will take place in Portal-esque standalone levels accessible from the game’s main menu.
A 2K representative had this to say on the wise decision of not trying to shoehorn the extra content into the game’s main story:
“Challenge rooms retain the flavor of Rapture, but they’re not trying to retrofit new story or new levels into the original game … We’re very, very respectful of the original experience.”
Rooms seen so far include a carnival game, which uses the telekinesis plasmid to throw tennis balls and unlock a safe. From the looks of the screenshots, it seems they’ve stayed very faithful to the original atmosphere of the game – it’s just a shame that PC and Xbox 360 gamers won’t get to try their hands at the new challenges.
