The Old Lady of Gaming
Author: Penge | Date: July 19, 2008In this new era of more ‘social’ gaming, girls are now playing more and more games. But what about the old people? Well apparently they’re playing more games too, mainly on the Wii, because it keeps their bodies and minds agile. But Grandma has been playing games for years.
Grandma is an old lady who plays computer games. Not just basic, simple ones, like your sudoku or brain training, oh no. She loves nothing more than gunning down policemen on GTA4 or battling the Big Daddies on BioShock.
That’s right; an old lady actually plays proper games! And, by all accounts, she doesn’t pick up the controller and then stare blankly at the screen for hours, she actually does play. Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Ecco the Dolphin… ok, ignore the last one, but she does play some serious games. A gaming Granny. She’s even featured on MTV, such is her fame.
Have a look at her site here, written by her grandson. There’s even her Wii number, if you fancy whiling away your hours playing Super Mario Strikers or Mario Kart against a frail old lady. Just remember to let her win; the disappointment of losing might, you know, send her into a downward spiral to destination coffin. And you wouldn’t want that on your conscience.
Incidentally, be wary of the name of the blog. It’s called Old Grandma Hardcore. Wouldn’t want your boss spotting that in the title bar of your Firefox tab.
