Mad Props To These, Er… Mad Props
Author: Rees | Date: July 22, 2008
OK, so these props aren’t really all that mad at all – I just thought it was the early 90′s all over again or something. What’s going on here is that Profiles In History are having a massive auction of movie props, and some of these are absolute gems.
There’s the actual holy grail from the Indiana Jones movie, the actual TIE Fighter that knocked Darth Vader’s fighter out of the trench in Star Wars: A New Hope, and an actual animatronic Xenomorph from Alien III (great for your kid’s bedroom!).

In fact, there’s so much Hollywood gold that I’m just going to list some of my favourites here:
- A Bat Radio form the super-camp 60s Batman series (starting price $8,000)
- This Star Trek phaser used by Shatner himself (starting price $3,000)
- An animatronic Velociraptor from Jurassic Park III (starting price $60,000)
- The actual Ten Commandments stone tablets (starting price $30,000)
- A set of C-3PO’s feet from Star Wars: A New Hope (starting price $20,000)
- The TIE Fighter mentioned above (starting price $170,000!)
- An original ET shooting script with annotations (starting price $200)
- An Alien III animatronic alien (starting price $15,000)
- The actual hoverboard (OMFG nerdgasm!) used by Marty McFly in Back To The Future II (starting price $30,000 and worth every single penny)
- The space diner and spaceships, including Lone Star’s Winnebago, from Spaceballs (starting price $1,000)
- Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes’ costumes from Demolition Man (starting price $6,000)
- Jack Skellington’s house from A Nightmare Before Christmas (starting price $12,000)
If I had this much spare cash to blow then… Well, it wouldn’t be long before I didn’t have this much spare cash to blow, if you know what I mean. The items are due to be sold in two individual auctions, one starting at 11:00 PDT on July 31st, and the other starting the same time on August 1st. Here’s the main auction catalogue for your perusal.
