Halo 3 Reclaims Its Crown
Author: Vince | Date: July 23, 2008After many, many months of being beaten down by Call of Duty 4 and a few weeks of being beaten by Grand Theft Auto 4, Halo 3 has reclaimed the title of most played game on Xbox Live from 14th – 20th of July, probably due to the free map they gave away and the price cut on the ‘Legendary Map Pack’.
This weeks Xbox Live activity figures were posted this morning over on Major Nelson’s blog, and they looked like this:-
Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (based on UU’s)
1 Halo 3
2 Call of Duty 4
3 GTA IV
4 Gears of War
5 Guitar Hero III
6 Rock Band
7 Too Human Demo
8 Battlefield: Bad Company
9 Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2
10 FIFA 08
Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 Golf: Tee It Up!
2 SOULCALIBUR
3 UNO
4 DOOM
5 Worms
6 Schizoid
7 N+
8 Geometry Wars Evolved
9 Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3
10 Coffeetime Crosswords
The above arcade list is based on full versions purchased.
Original Xbox Top Live Titles (based on UU’s)
1 Halo 2
2 Star Wars: Battlfrnt 2
3 Fable
4 Counter-Strike
5 Battlefield 2: MC
6 Call of Duty 3
7 Street Fighter Anniv.
8 Fable: Lost Chapters
9 Splinter Cell Chaos
10 Guilty Gear XX #Reload
The other thing I noticed was that Uno is still the 3rd most purchased XBLA game this week, and has been consistantly in the top 10 ever since it was released way back in May 2006! Surely by now everybody with a 360 must own Uno, especially as it was bundled free with the Live Vision camera, so how is it still so popular? Are Live Arcade game sales really that bad?
