Windows 7 by Microsoft will support multi-touch

Some interesting “insider” information over on the ZD Net site today… Not only will Microsoft be showing off some more Windows 7 tech at their Professional Developers Conference and WinHEC, in October and November respectively, but there may very well be some kind of beta or CTP build available as soon as the middle of December this year.

That should give people something to play with over the festive season, and seems like a good idea judging by the popularity of the Vista public CTP and beta programmes. It also seems likely considering that the next version of Windows is due to be released by the end of next year.

Of course, the entire story is based on specualtion and unverifiable “insider sources”, but it’s always fun to speculate about something as big as a new release of the world’s most popular operating system. So we will!
