360 Outsells Wii & PS3 In Japan, Infinite Undiscovery To Thank?

News is out today that Microsoft actually managed to shift more Xbox 360 units in Japan last week than Sony did PS3s or Nintendo did Wiis. That’s pretty impressive considering the Japanese market’s oft-touted love for its homegrown consoles, although perhaps a little unsurprising when you consider that they probably all own PS3s and Wiis already.
Here are the sales figures:
- Xbox 360: 28,681 units
- Wii: 27,057 units
- PlayStation 3: 8,050 units
The high sales are more than likely due to a price drop in Japan, bringing the bottom-end arcade version of the console’s price down to a very tempting 19,800 Yen (about $180 / £90). The release of tri-Ace’s Square Enix-published Xbox exclusive JRPG Infinite Undiscovery (pictured above) must have helped quite a bit too, shifting 86,706 units in its first week.
