Frankie Boyle To Host This Year’s Golden Joysticks
Author: Rees | Date: September 25, 2008
That’s right, Future Publishing have announced today that this year’s Golden Joystick awards, sponsored by Virgin Media, will be hosted by none other than the mighty Frankie Boyle, a controversial Scottish funnyman who also happens to be a hero in my eyes.
The Golden Joysticks will be held on October 31st at the Park Lane Hilton, London. From the press release:
With just a few tables remaining, almost 800 guests will be entertained at the event as Frankie Boyle takes time out from his sold-out tour to present the show, also streamed live at www.goldenjoystick.com and the Virgin Media website – www.virginmedia.com . Frankie first came to prominence when he won the Daily Telegraph’s Open Mic competition in 1996, launching his stand-up career. Since then he has racked up an impressive CV of TV work, including his infamous appearances on BBC Two’s Mock the Week.
I hear they’re also going to be handing out some awards or something. Finally, if you’re not familiar with Boyle’s work (and you’re not easily offended), your first stop should definitely be his legendary performance on Live At The Apollo in 2007.

Everybody knows this isnt the true Golden Joystick of legend, its just some clever marketing from CVG magazine
Friend of TTB Dominc Diamond (or dexter if Dom is on a break) should be the only people allowed to hand out Golden Joysticks and you should get one for beating your mate at a computer game not for something like actually writing the game in the first place. Future Publishing are making a mockery of the joystick!
Actually, I deliberately used a picture of the real golden joystick for that very reason. Perhaps we could employ Dominik Diamond to hand out awards for us?
We could have a golden teabag?
