Actiblizzard Trademark ‘Dance Hero’
Author: Vince | Date: September 28, 2008
It seems that Activision are not content with just guitars and DJ’s for their rhythm gaming fans, as they have gone and trademarked the name ‘Dance Hero’. Of course, companies often trademark names and never use them just to stop competitors leeching off the success of their titles, but given the recent success of the genre and seeing as Activision don’t have anything out there to compete with Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution it really wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to me if this was real.
The trademark has been filed for the following purpose:-
“computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game cartridges; computer game cassettes; computer game discs; downloadable computer game software; video game controllers; interactive video game comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller.”
I wonder if we will see the ultimate mash-up game somewhere down the line combining Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and Dance Hero? Otherwise known as ‘Guitar Hero: Prodigy’?
