Square Enix Announce New Final Fantasy Game for Wii & DS
Author: Vince | Date: October 1, 2008Square Enix has announced the latest installment of its Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles series through Japanese gaming magazine Shonen Jump this week. Subtitled ‘Echoes of Time’, the action-rpg game is set for release on both the Wii & DS this coming January in Japan.
There are very few details available at the moment, but the basic core of the story will revolve around a girl named Charlotta and a mysterious crystal. The game will feature cross-platform online play thanks to special technology developed by Square and will somehow work your Mii into the game, no mention of how yet, and allow you to transfer your Mii over to the DS version. Also the gameplay will differ between the 2 versions, allowing each one to take full advantage of the strengths of their input devices, both motion sensing and touch screen.
Being a Japanese magazine there was no mention of a US or European release, but knowing Square and their love of milking franchises it’s pretty safe to assume they will be released to the west just as soon as the translation is finished.
