Games + Beer + DIY = Win

I don’t know who Burke Lashell is, or even what country he’s from, but I do know this: he’s now a hero in my eyes. Because not only did this guy build his very own MAME cabinet, something I’ve longed to do ever since I first heard of the retro-tastic emulator, but he built it into a bar.

The “MAME bar” features controls for four players as well as an inconspicuous looking wall-mounted flastcreen TV. Rumour has it that this guy’s wife wouldn’t let him have a home arcade in the basement, but that she would let him have his very own bar, and this ultimate fusion of nerdiness and manliness was created as a compromise.
Although I’m not a big drinker myself, I am a big gamer, so even I can totally appreciate the high levels of awesome that must radiate from this thing. As an added bonus, the arcade controls tuck neatly away for when things get a little too rowdy and he doesn’t want all of his handywork being assaulted by ham-fisted drunkards.

This is pure utter genius.
Where do I begin describing how awesome that is?
Kick-ass.
The combonation of geekyness and manliness is outstanding. I think I should have to build one myself.
This guy’s the best. Awesomeness is overflowing that room as we speak and is possibly radiating into his neighbor’s houses as well.
oh wow awesome setup my two favorite things blended into one so perfectly, its almost not right! looks great
Time for a different wife. Everything is coming with me, from my more than a dozen Iron Maiden shirts to my video games.
Why go through all that effort only to hook up such an itty bitty TV?
