There are few companies in our beloved games industry who deserve to be described as giants but Midway certainly fit that description.
With such classics as Tron, Gauntlet, and Rampage already on their resume, the early Nineties proved to be a defining period for the company with the release of Mortal Kombat. Daring to take on the big boys in their own backyard, and doing so with great success, Midway’s controversial Beat ‘em Up earned them a foothold in the genre previously dominated by Capcom and their Street Fighter games.
In 2004, the company decided to add to their Mortal Kombat series with another controversial and hugely successful title, The Suffering, and followed this with a sequel a year later. In 2007, Midway added the action-packed Stranglehold, from acclaimed director John Woo, to their impressive list of titles.
This brings us nicely to the present day and an upcoming title which is evidence that Midway are not only very much alive and kicking but that they still have a passion for interesting and diverse games.
