Apricot, 80s Computer Manufacturer, Are Back With This Netbook

Looks like Commodore aren’t the only blast from the past who’ve decided to join in on the netbook fun. British computer giant of the 80s and 90s Apricot have just released this, the Picobook Pro. Here’s the spec (via The Register):

The PicoBook Pro has a 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of 667MHz DDR 2 memory and a 60GB hard drive. There’s a 1.3-megapixel webcam in the bezel above the 1024 x 600 display.

The Picobook is aimed at the “Pro” netbook market, making it a direct competitor to the HP Mini-Note 2133 which we currently have on review. The Apricot will be priced at £279 for the Linux version or £328 for the Windows XP version. Like the HP (and the upcoming Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Mini), the system comes with an ExpressCard slot.

Also like the HP, the system runs SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop. Looks like it should be an interesting addition to the ever-expanding range of Netbooks on the market.
