TTB on Tour: GTI Club+ at Eurogamer (PS3)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are absolutely loads of great games coming out for the PS3 at the moment, but as I don’tactually own one I find it hard to really get into the whole thing. But this game really caught my eye at the expo – a remake of the 1996 arcade classic GTI Club, entitled, imaginatively, GTI Club+, which is coming out on the system next month.
The game is a faithful recreation of the handbrake-equipped arcade racer that we know and love from 1996, and I’m pretty sure it’s improved in a few ways, too. Now all we need is a remake of that game where you got to race in the school bus (what was that called?) and I may as well give up in my hunt for unloved retro arcade racing cabs for good.
The game is very twitchy and takes some getting used to, although it’s also very forgiving if you do decide to overcook things going into the bends. The cars bounce around all over the place and are a lot of fun to drive. Loads of fun and really captures the arcadey charm of the original!
Finally, my apologies for the poor quality and the lack of sound in the video – there’ll be a much better version in our Eurogamer Expo wrapup, coming soon!
