Now you have a chance to own a very rare slice of Nintendo history thanks to eBay seller ‘michallangille’ who is selling a Nintendo N64, complete with the uber-rare 64DD disk drive plus the development cartridge and programming guide, and it can all be yours for the princely sum of $1,999 (about £750). Bargain!
The 64DD was a disk drive that mounted underneath the N64 and included the 4MB RAM upgrade, a modem which went into the upgrade slot on top of the console which allowed used to access the N64′s online service ‘Randnet’ in Japan and the 64MB re-writeable disk drive, which could be used for saved games and downloaded data. While a plethora of games were planned to be released on the 64DD disk format only 9 were ever released, the most famous being Sim City 64.
