Review: Littlest Pet Shop: Garden (DS)
Author: Tigervamp | Date: November 25, 2008
Littlest Pet Shop: Garden is an incredibly cute little game for the Nintendo DS which is loosely based on the toys of the same name. Think Animal Crossing combined with Viva Pinata complete with a variety of simple yet enjoyable mini-games and you won’t be too far off. The aim is to adopt a variety of ridiculously cute little animals, take care of them, make sure they’re happy, and maintain a high reputation which in turn attracts the interest of even more animals who find themselves up for adoption. Playing mini-games will make your pets happy and depending on how well you perform you’ll be awarded currency which can then be used to purchase clothing for the animals which will make them even happier.
The mini-games on offer range from a colouring-in activity to relatively more hectic tasks which will test the player’s ability to react quickly. The number of kibble coins awarded will depend on how well you do and which difficulty setting you choose to play. There is some variety in the selection of clothing and accessories which can be purchased for your pets but it’s perhaps not as extensive as it could be.
The graphics are nice and if cutesy animals are to your taste you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of them available for your viewing pleasure. The music is along the same lines with it also being cute and cheerful and I expect that children, especially young girls, will enjoy this about the game. As is the case with Animal Crossing this game has that never-ending aspect which will at least result in the game having quite a bit of life in it even if it doesn’t offer a tremendous amount of variety.
This is one of three Littlest Pet Shop titles available just now with the others being Winter and Jungle. The games are essentially identical with the only real difference being a particular pet which is specific to each of the titles, Garden has an extra cat, Winter has an extra polar bear, and Jungle has an extra panda. Since this is the case I suggest that the best course of action would be to decide which of the specific pets you are interested in the most and then make your purchase accordingly.
7/10

Any idea how to unlock the locked buildings? We have all the pets, all the toys, all the playsets and all of the clothes. There is nothing left to buy in the market but the Super Pet Shops won’t open…
Have you found out yet how to unlock the other buildings in the LPS DS Game?
Brandy, Kathy, I think the buildings can only be “unlocked” if you purchase the other Littlest Pet Shop games and, to be honest with you, I really don’t think it’s worth it.
Does EACH pet have to complete EACH level (easy, medium, hard) on EACH game…before the SUPER PET SHOP buildings are unlocked?
how do you get the special pet Griaff?
To get the girraffe you go to the options part of the startup menu and to the second tab that says “enter password”
The enter LPSTRU
Entering this will unlock the giraffe on all three players
Hope this helped =]
I’m trying to figure out how to unlock the last accessory (#96). I’ve read where some have tried to blue ribbon all the games on each level of difficulty and with each pet, which isn’t working for them.
Any ideas?
Is there a password for it?
