‘DJ Hero’ Is Real, Just In Case You’d Forgotten Already

Activision Blizzard DJ Hero release date confirmed

Another day, another “accidental” slip up telling us that Activision’s DJ Hero is indeed real and is indeed on its way. This time we have Activision Blizzard’s CEO Bobby Kotick to thank, who came up with this while speaking at the World Economic Forum:

“We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs”

I think that’s confirmation enough. That doesn’t mean that the game will be any good, or even particularly realistic (as if that matters, of course), but it should remove any shadow of a doubt remaining in gamers’ minds about this game’s existence.

It’s also interesting to see that we finally have a tentative release date for the game: “later this year”.

We’ll hold you to that, Bobby.

Attention Geeks: Penny Arcade Know Who You Are!

Author: Rees | Date:

Worst. Photoshop. Ever.

I’d like to say that some of the results of Penny Arcade’s recent reader survey are surprising… But they’re not really at all. Knowing that the average geek is 26, male, owns a gaming PC, Xbox 360, and Wii, uses a high-speed connection, watches very little TV and buys lots of games isn’t all that unexpected, but at least it confirms that there are plenty of other people out there just like us here at TTB.

Perhaps we are normal, after all.

Full Guitar Hero: Metallica Track Listing Revealed

Author: Vince | Date: January 27, 2009

Metallica have spilled the beans on the full tracklisting for their upcoming Guitar Hero game, which will contain 28 tracks from the boys themselves, spanning every stage of their career, and a further 21 tracks from acts such as System of a Down, Foo Fighters, Kyuss, Queen and many more.

Every single track has been taken from the original masters, so no sub par covers or re-recordings here, and as an added bonus if you have already purchased the ‘Death Magnetic’ DLC for GH:WT then it will be incorporated straight into the main game.

Just about every Metallica track you could ever want is on there, so check out the full listing after the break.

Picture the scene, our unlikely hero (a blue alien by the name of Frank) has been captured and is being held prisoner on a bounty hunter ship.  The ship crashes killing everybody onboard apart from Frank and a purple blob in a cage marked ‘The Deadliest Organism in the Universe’ (lovingly known as Maw), who now find themselves stranded together on an unknown planet.  Being a wily old fox Frank realises he won’t get off the planet alone and frees Maw to help him, using the crystal buried in his forehead to suppress Maw’s urge to eat him whole, and set off on their grand adventure.

This Week in Rock Band: Deadheads, Part 2 Edition

Author: Vince | Date: January 26, 2009

After 3 weeks of blinding tracks Harmonix keep the pace up with another 6 songs from the Grateful Dead set to release for Rock Band this week.  Hailed as musical pioneers back in their day, ‘The Dead’ blended an eclectic mix of blues, folk, rock, jazz, bluegrass, country and reggae, in addition to a few truckloads of illegal substances, to create their unique sound.

Unusually there are no other tracks this week, so if you don’t like the Dead, you’re all outta luck!  The tracks will be available on Tuesday via Xbox Live and Thursday via PSN for the usual 160/$1.99 each or 800/$9.99 for the 6 track pack.

Full tracklisting and video links after the break.

Review: Deal or No Deal: The Banker is Back! (DS)

Author: Tigervamp | Date:

Photobucket

Deal or No Deal, as presented by former WWF wrestler Ted DiBiase aka The Million Dollar Man, is a game of guesswork and if you’ve read my review of Golden Balls you’ll know my feelings on this style of game-show. What I find funny about this show in particular is that many contestants come prepared with a list of figures relating to friend and family birthdays and other landmark events. They actually believe that this superstitious mumbo jumbo will help them win a large sum of money when it’s about as useful as someone using the same set of numbers every time they buy a Lottery ticket.
