Team Teabag’s Top Posts of 2008
Author: Rees | Date: January 2, 2009TTB was born in November 2007. We don’t hide that fact, and we’re not ashamed that we’re relative newcomers trying to take on the might of the old stalwarts – in fact, I’m sure I don’t just speak for myself when I say how surprised I am at just how crazy our traffic has grown over the past year. So I think it’s time to honour the top stories of 2008, our first proper full year, the posts that helped get us where we are today (without forgetting the importance of all the other stuff, of course).
Retro Computing Corner: The World’s First MP3 Player (c. 1998)
A post celebrating the MPMan F10, and its close follower, the Diamond Rio. Without these players we’d probably still all be listening to our Discmans… And Apple would probably still be stuck in their late-90s rut. I’m sure the music industry are so pleased. This post also got us to the front page of Digg.
HOWTO: Ubuntu Install From USB – Works For Other Linux Too!
Erm… Yeah. An early post designed to document my favourite (at the time) process for installing Ubuntu. Not gaming or gadget related in the slightest.

A guy called Burke Lashell built a bar in his house, then decided to go one better and integrate arcade controls and a big-ass screen. This guy is acredit to all of mankind!
-
Retro Computing Corner: The World’s First Laptop (c. 1982)
A celebration of the GRiD compass. A controversial post this one, as apparently different people have different definitions for the term “laptop”.

How iPhone Owners Can Learn To Please The Ladies (NSFW)
This post is Not Safe For Work. It’s also hugely popular for some bizarre reason. Perhaps the iPhone owners of the world do actually have a need for this – I wouldn’t want to speculate.
-
That’s the end of our top 5 traffic-bringing posts. But what about the others, the honorable mentions, the things that made us laugh, cry, and hurl? Here are some of my all-time favourites. Team Teabag isn’t all about the 5 posts listed above of course, and it’s the steady stream of visitors coming to our quirky selection of unique content that motivate us to keep working at it.

The ‘Games That Time Forgot’ Series
The brainchild of our very own Vince, this series has been hugely popular, and with good reason. If you’ve wasted countless hours over the past 20 years or so on various gaming systems, you’ll have fond memories of these gaming gems too.
-
Interview with Dominik Diamond
Our newest writer bursts on to the scene, and along with lots of top-notch game reviews, he also manages to bag this – an interview with none other than GamesMaster legend Dominik Diamond. What a way to make an entrance.

Vince hates people who cheat at GTA. So do I. But when he decided to publicly express his feelings on the subject, the internet didn’t take too kindly to it. I thought he had a valid point. Crazed GTA fanboys weren’t so sure. I think most of them were just upset that the post didn’t actually contain any cheats at all.
-
Still a popular post with the 10 or so people a day who Google “Halo Porn”. What’s wrong with these people!?
-
Seriously, this guy has balls. You know you’re in for a good time when a review starts like this: “I’ve had some seriously drunken nights in my past and ended up in some strange places but as a straight man I can assure you that this is the first time I’ve ever played around with My Boyfriend.”
-
Really, the man is a comedy genius. If you like his thoroughly British style of witty warblings you should also check out his site, randomlinkage if you get a chance.
-
And people say I’m random. An assortment of musings from our resident fuzzy badger lover.

If you have a favourite post, feel free to mention it in the comments. I broke the site search in the name of advertising (like a genius), so use this. Here’s looking forward to a fantastic 2009!
