Videos: Songsmith Does The Classics

Author: Rees | Date: February 1, 2009

Microsoft Songsmith is pretty damn clever really. Just give it a melody and it’ll generate the perfect backing track. So some jokers decided it’d be a pretty good idea to take the vocal tracks from lots of well-known rock songs and see what hilarity would ensue.

You know what? Some of these are actually pretty good. Kinda.

I think all songs should be written like this in future. It’s certainly better than the Ting Tings any day.

I should point out that this post was inspired by one on Gizmodo, showcasing another of Songsmith’s features: its ability to generate music from simple graphics.

Like some depressing-looking stock charts. But that music is just so damn cheerful!
