Windows 7 Is Linux-Based?
Author: Rees | Date: February 6, 2009Well, actually, not at all really, that’s just an attention-grabbing headline. But bear with me, because the point I’m trying to make is that the man on the street certainly doesn’t know any different, in fact thinking that the extremely flashy Linux desktop known as KDE 4 is impressive enough to take on Microsoft at their own twisted flashy desktop game.
For all these people know, KDE is Windows 7, and they like what they see.
You see, this little experiment by ZDNet Australia demos KDE, Amarok, and OpenOffice and shows that, as far as the man on the street is concerned, KDE is easy to use, pretty, and quick. Not such good news for us Ubuntu users and our not-so-flashy Gnome default desktop, but an overall win for Linux nonetheless.
In fact, I think I’ll install KDE right now, and start enjoying the future today!
