Review: World of Warcraft: Talking Murloc (Plush Toy)
Author: Tigervamp | Date: February 10, 2009
As mentioned in my review of the World of Warcraft graphic novel I am not a huge fan of the videogame. I have played the game in the past and I enjoyed the experience but for one reason or another this didn’t lead me to diving in head first and paying for a subscription. During my short stay in WoW I couldn’t fail to be impressed by the art and design of the characters, especially the more monstrous creations, so it’s nice to be writing about a plush version of one of the game’s most interesting foes, the Murloc.
I am not the kind of person who will purchase an item only to keep it stored away in some dusty basement as I’m much more hands-on and because of this I don’t normally pay too much attention to the box. Having said this I must mention that the plush comes in a cardboard box with the appearance of a wooden prison crate and this does look pretty cool.
The most important thing for this plush is to resemble the character it’s based on and I must say that this is pretty much a perfect representation of what you’ll find in the game right down to the trademark Murloc war-paint. Something not visible in photographs is that the arms and legs of the plush have a wire frame inside and this means they are somewhat poseable which I feel is a nice touch. The Murloc plush does of course ‘talk’ but while many on the internet are in agreement that it utters something along the lines of “RWLRWLRWLRWL!” with each press I hear a garbled “Hello Mama!” and I happen to find this hilarious.
“I am more than a fish
I am more than a man
Death will rise from the tide
I am Murloc!”
Enjoy!
I highly recommend this for anyone who loves World of Warcraft and being so damn cute it’s sure to appeal to more than just hard-core fans of the game. Please be aware that this fish-frog-man-beast has been selling out quickly in some places and this has resulted in many frustrated shoppers…well, moaning a little and threatening to…wait until the item is back in stock.
(You can purchase this item, view some photographs, and even listen to the sound it makes at J!NX)
