Sega Planning to Release Sonic 3 & Gunstar Heroes on XBLA?

Author: Vince | Date: February 16, 2009

In news that is bound to excite our very own Mr Rees, Dutch site SegaOnline.nl have information from an anonymous source that Sega will soon be bringing 5 new titles to its ‘Sega Vintage Collection’ of XBLA games, despite the release of the full retail title, Sega Megadrive Ultimate, collection this week which already contains the majority these games.  The next wave of games are rumoured to be Gunstar Heroes, Sonic 3, Comix Zone, Altered Beast and Revenge of Shinobi.

Whilst Comix Zone, Shinobi & Altered Beast are debatable, there are offscreen pictures to back up Sonic 3 & Gunstar Heroes, and it seems like a logical step given that Sonic 1 & 2 are already available and that the fans have been screaming for GH for years and Sega still didn’t include it on the Mega Drive collection!

Until officially confirmed this is still just rumour, but it certainly looks promising.

Obligatory “OMFG Gunstar Heroes!!”

That third screenshot send shivers down my spine… On the way to Black’s Dice Maze, by far the best level in the game. Although I’ll probably just go and play it on my Wii now…

And you call yourself a gunstar heroes fanboy!

That isn’t on the way to the dice maze, its just before the jungle with the claws. Its called The Ancient Ruins.

Now hang your head in shame, go on.

What!?

Looks like I had an epic memory fail there. I officially hand my Gunstar fanboy crown to you… and you never even owned a Megadrive!
