Banjo-Kazooie Competition Winners!

Author: Rees | Date: April 30, 2009

My goodness, what an overwhelming response we had to our Banjo-Kazooie competition. We deliberated over the answers, and it’s such a shame that not everyone can be a winner as we had so many deserving people. The overall quality of the entries was top-notch, and we’d like to thank every single one of you!

Unfortunately there can only be two winners, so onwards we must go to the formalities…

Relive ‘Cool Runnings’ on the Wii with Sled Shred

Author: Vince | Date: April 29, 2009

SouthPeak games have today announced that they are hard at work on Sled Shred for the Wii, a bobsleigh game featuring everbodies favorite underdogs the Jamaican Bobsled team.  Scheduled for release in Autumn 2009 Sled Shred will allow you to race down over 10 snowy courses in a variety of vehicles ranging from bobsleds and luges to toboggans, discs and inner tubes using either the Wiimotes or the balance board to control themselves as they hurtle down the slopes.

Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak Games, had this to say:-

“We are very excited to bring this unique racing experience to Wii with Sled Shred,”.  “A sledding game is a natural fit for Wii owners, and we can’t wait to see everyone using their natural body movements to steer their sleds down those slopes!”

Review: Blue Dragon Plus (DS)

Author: Stevie Smith | Date:

Having vanquished Blue Dragon’s swollen-headed and effeminately named evildoer Nene after far too many hours trudging through a paint-by-numbers Xbox 360 adventure lacking in spark and invention, this reviewer approached Blue Dragon Plus on the Nintendo DS hoping the innovative hardware had inspired developer Brownie Brown to improve on a passable but somewhat bland RPG formula.

So, with Blue Dragon’s climactic events leaving the world torn in twain with strange populated planetoid cubes floating between either half, it’s fair to say life probably hadn’t returned to anything resembling normal for spiky-haired whiner Shu and his band of faithfully clichéd miscreants during the developmental interim. Imagine their collective surprise then when nefarious Nene inexplicably returns from the deep dark yonder with vengeance on his over-inflated mind, blah, blah, blah.

Video: The Kazookeylele

Author: Rees | Date: April 28, 2009

I love crazy homemade music stuff, and this is no exception – it’s a kids’ toy piano combined with a ukelele and a kazoo. Plus, the guy (who apparently actually goes busking with this thing) can play The Final Countdown on it.. What more do you need to know!?

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Confirmed for XBLA & PSN

Author: Vince | Date:

It’s been rumored, hinted at and demanded by fans for a very long time now, but finally today Capcom have cracked and announced that arguably the pinnacle of 2d fighting games, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, will be released on XBLA and PSN this summer at a cost of 1200 on the 360 or $14.99 on the PS3.

The code has been lifted straight from the Dreamcast version of the game with no SSF2THDR graphical makeover unfortunately.  There is however 2 optional filters designed to improve the graphical output of the game, crisp and smooth, which frankly sound more like peanut butter varieties than game options.  All of the games 56 characters will be available from the get-go, so no need to play it through again and again to try and unlock the likes of Ken and Akuma.

If you live in the US and own a PS3 then you won’t have to wait until summer to get your eye back in on MvC2, as a demo will be released on the US PSN on the 30th April, with a PAL demo following shortly after.

This Week in Rock Band: Addicted to Jane Edition

Author: Vince | Date: April 27, 2009

Jane’s Addiction are one of those strange bands who through their 20 year on/off career have only recorded 3 studio albums, which is quite crazy considering how highly regarded the band are, and this week will see the release of the bands 1998 debut album ‘Nothing’s Shocking’ for Rock Band (minus ‘Mountain Song’ which was included on the RB2 disc). Despite poor sales, the album still managed to land Perry and the boys a support slot with Iggy Pop and The Ramones, which in turn launched their career.   Hopefully now this is out they will release ‘Ritual De Habitual’, their second album and home of the all time classic ‘Been Caught Stealing’.

The album will be released on Tuesday via Xbox Live and Thursday on PSN at a cost of 1280/$15.99 for the entire 10 track pack or individually for usual price of 160/$1.99.

Full tracklisting with video links after the break.

Win RACE Pro DLC! *Closed*

Author: Vince | Date:

We have 2 codes to give away to unlock the Dodge Challenger SRT8 (pictured above) for  Atari’s RACE Pro on Xbox 360.  The only way you could have this car is if you pre-ordered the RACE Pro at Game in the UK, and I don’t think this was available in the USA full stop, so don’t miss your chance.

In order to be in with a chance of winning please leave a comment on this post with the name of your all-time favorite racing driver from any formula.  Please ensure you enter a valid email address as this is how we will contact the winners, (email addresses and other personal details will never be displayed on the site) and we will pick 2 winners at random on Monday 4th May.

And don’t forget to enter our massive Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts contest too!

This competition is now closed and the lucky winners have been contacted by e-mail.  Keep watching Team Teabag for more competitions soon.

What Are You Waiting For? ‘Orange Box’ Is $10 On Steam

Author: Rees | Date: April 25, 2009

Did you miss out on The Orange Box, probably the biggest, bestest, and most bargainous game release of last year? Have you really been deprived of Half-Life 2 (plus episodes 1 and 2), Team Fortress 2, and (God forbid) Portal for this damn long?

Shame on you.

Still, this weekend is your chance at redemption, as The Orange Box is available on Steam for $10. Thats 7 quid! You’d have to be utterly insane to miss out on a deal like that. This would be a damn good deal for pretty much any selection of 5 games, even games like My Boyfriend… But when we’re talking about 5 of the best games ever made, this has to be the biggest no-brainer since, well, since somebody without a brain.

In fact, that could well be the people at Valve as they have clearly gone insane. Take advantage before it’s too late!

…But Will They Need To Censor ‘The Beatles: Rock Band’ …?

Author: Rees | Date:

Now here’s an interesting thing… Geoff Emerick is a sound engineer who worked with The Beatles on many of their tracks, and he’s just released a book. In it, he claims that Paul McCartney can quite clearly be heard saying “F**king hell!” during one of the verses in “Hey Jude”. It’s just here, in the third verse:

Right between the lines “The minute you let her under your skin/ Oh, then you begin” you can clearly hear Paul curse off mic saying ‘F****** hell!”

The book goes on to say that this was due to him hitting the wrong note on the piano. I’ve just had a listen to the song (the version from their recent “One” greatest hits album), and right around the 4:15 mark it can indeed be very clearly heard (apparently it’s around 2:56 on the single version). It’s so odd that nobody has ever noticed this before.

Apparently, John Lennon insisted that the expletive was left in the mix for The Beatles’ own personal amusement. But will we be seeing it on the vocal track in The Beatles: Rock Band?

GHII Tracks for Guitar Hero: Smash Hits Revealed

Author: Vince | Date: April 24, 2009

Activision have spilt the beans on on the Guitar Hero II tracks that will be featured in the upcoming compilation game Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, and whilst there is no doubting that there are some solid tracks in the line-up I am truly disappointed that neither ‘John the Fisherman’ by Primus or ‘Who Was In My Room Last Night’ by the Butthole Surfers made the final cut.  Luckily such classics as ‘YYZ’ by Rush (which will be interesting to see how they handle the vocals in a instrumental song) and ‘The Trooper’ by Iron Maiden.

Smash Hits is a compilation of tracks from Guitar Hero 1-3 plus Rock the 80′s given the full band makeover using master recordings from the original artists and no more substandard covers.  The tracks included form Guitar Hero II are:-

  • Avenged Sevenfold – “Beast And The Harlot”
  • Rage Against The Machine – “Killing In The Name”
  • Rush – “YYZ”
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Free Bird”
  • Foo Fighters – “Monkey Wrench”
  • Iron Maiden – “The Trooper”
  • Nirvana – “Heart-Shaped Box”
  • Lamb of God – “Laid To Rest”
  • The Police – “Message In A Bottle”
  • Wolfmother – “Woman”
  • Kansas – “Carry On Wayward Son”
  • Stone Temple Pilots – “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart”
  • Warrant – “Cherry Pie”
  • Alice in Chains – “Them Bones”
  • Danzig – “Mother”
  • Jane’s Addiction – “Stop!”
  • Reverend Horton Heat – “Psychobilly Freakout”
  • The Sword – “Freya”
  • Mötley Crüe – “Shout At The Devil”

See the full tracklisting to date and some more screenshots after the break.
