LEGO Rock Band – It’s Official!
Author: Rees | Date: April 21, 2009OK, so it’s perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming, but we didn’t want to speculate for fear that it might not be true. Fortunately Warner Bros, TT Games, LEGO, Harmonix and MTV Games have come together in some kind of massive unholy mashup and actually delivered the goods.
Hopefully these screenshots prove that the game is looking great already, and what with being LEGO-based this time around, the game’s creators have really gone to town on the customisation options and imaginative new venues. The game comes with songs suitable for younger audiences, and while we don’t know yet whether they’ll also be transferrable ot the real Rock Band, I don’t much care, because playing as a LEGO character more than makes up for it.
Here are the songs announced so far:
- Blur: “Song 2”
- Carl Douglas: “Kung Fu Fighting”
- Europe: “The Final Countdown”
- Good Charlotte: “Boys and Girls”
- Pink: “So What”
Is the whole game worth it just for those first three alone? Yes. Yes it is – but perhaps we’ll skip the second two.
The game will be out “in 2009″ on the DS, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. From the press release:
Players will become rockers as they embark on a journey to stardom that the whole family can enjoy as they work their way through local venues, stadiums and fantasy locations on Earth and beyond, that mimic the imaginative settings that the LEGO world offers. Also continuing the LEGO “build-and-play” gaming experience, players will be able to create their own LEGO Rock Band style as they customize their minifigure avatars, band and entourage, including roadies, managers and crew. LEGO Rock Band supports Rock Band instruments, as well as other music game controllers.
