‘Katamari Forever’ Announced! Screenshots And Video Here!

This autumn, our world is going to change. The stars will be torn from the sky, and it’s up to one plucky Prince to restore order to the universe. Yep, that’s right – a new Katamari game is coming out, and it’s as bonkers as ever.

Later on this year, PS3 owners will be treated to Katamari Forever, the latest instalment in the delightfully quirky universe-rebuilding ball-rolling Japanese franchise that has taken the (real) world by storm. Once again you take control of The Prince (and his cousins) and try to roll your katamari as big as possible. The new game is loosely based around the previous games, featuring “remixed” levels, and will be known outside of Japan as Katamari Tribute.

This time around, many levels take place in The King’s memory, except it’s not quite what it used to be, meaning that these “remixed” levels start off devoid of all colour. As The Prince rolls around collecting items, colour will gradually be restored to the levels. Sounds like a lot of fun in a De Blob-esque way. In an interesteing twist, it also features a level where the player will get to fill a katamari with water and roll all over a desert, causing a forest to sprout up around them.

Katamari Forever (or Katamari Tribute) features offline multiplayer, online leaderboards, some crazy graphical filters (see screenshots below for examples), glorious 1080p support, and of course all the usual madness you’ve come to expect from the world of Katamari. I can’t wait!
