Zune HD Fondled On Video, Loved
Author: Rees | Date: May 30, 2009
We love the Zune here at Team Teabag. Vince and I can often be found rockin’ out to our 1st gen 30GB models, and we’ve been eyeing the new Zune HD closely. So these hands-on videos from Gizmodo and CNET, recorded at the recent AllThingsD conference, were right up our street.
Of course these aren’t thorough reviews – hopefully Microsoft will be sending review units out soon – but the Gizmodo and CNET staffers did haveĀ a few things to comment on. Apparently, things that Microsoft have managed to pull off are the excellent touchscreen, slick menu animations, the quality of the OLED screen, the accelerometer, the large thumbnails, digital radio support, and the web browser (which isn’t demoed in the videos, oddly enough).
Personally, I love the Zune menu software running on the big, crisp, clear OLED screen, and I think the device itself looks slick and good to hold. Perhaps someone’s got a chance of beating Apple at their own game after all. Of course, I’ll reserve judgement until I get my hands on one myself, but things are looking good already.
