Review: Dance Party Club Hits + Dance Party Pop Hits (Wii)

Author: Tigervamp | Date: May 26, 2009

This isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed a Wii title requiring a mat and it probably won’t be the last. This is very much a DDR clone but, as I mentioned in my review of Family Trainer, I don’t mind a copy as long as it’s a good one. This one is ok. This is a decent game in the “dance/party game” genre but this is where we have a problem because this particular genre happens to be the videogame equivalent of Marmite, you either love it or hate it.

Arghh! There Be Tea on These Seas – East India Company Preview

Author: Marco Fiori | Date:

east_india_company_logo_lowres

What’s more relaxing than setting sail on the sea and taking a cannon ball to the face?  We’ve managed to get our hands on the preview build of Nitro Games’ East India Company, which feels like a cross between Civilization, Colonisation and Empire: Total War.  The full game will offer a campaign map, trade lanes, colonial expansion and real time naval battles, but our preview copy only came with three battles to try and a single tutorial.

eBay & Amazon Stop Sales of DS Flash Carts

Author: Vince | Date: May 25, 2009

ds-flash

In a major move to reduce the rampant piracy on the Nintendo DS the big N has reached a global agreement with Amazon and eBay to prohibit the sales of flash carts over their user marketplace service.  Since the uprising against the R4 last July most independent retails stopped stocking the cards with eBay & Amazon Marketplace being the last bastion of hope for would-be pirates.

The devices allow users to download DS games illegally from the internet and play them on their DS which has crippled the sales of many DS titles and hurt many indie developers.  Nintendo have been pushing hard for a long time to get these devices banned and this agreement marks a mojor step forawrd in their plans.

Read what Nintendo, Amazon and eBay reps had to say on the issue after the break.

Review: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (DS)

Author: Stacy Kidd | Date:

Gem-matching games have always been a popular source of procrastination. A great boredom aid during the typically dreary commuter journey and a welcome break during the lunch hour, the simple yet addictive nature of point-scoring puzzle solving has always been a distinct hit. Then Puzzle Quest came along and raised the bar of excellence even higher with a mish-mash of minigame-meets-RPG, dressed it up in a gown of wizards and dragons and anything else with a fairytale pulse.

Puzzle Quest’s latest incarnation has shed its previous skin of magical fantasy and spells, re-emerging in a space suit to recapture DS audiences throughout the galaxy…well, planet Earth.

This Week in Rock Band: Religion, Corpses & Fruit Edition

Author: Vince | Date:

ministry

We are treated to 6 new songs from a total of 3 artists this week in Rock Band, with half of those songs coming from recently defunct industrial legends Ministry.  Mr. Jourgenson and the boys treat us to 2 aural assaults from their 2006 return to form ‘Rio Grande Blood’ and a song from the soundtrack to the horror film Wicked Lake.

In addition to Ministry we get a long overdue return to the 60′s in the form of a pair of tracks from The Zombies, including the timeless ‘She’s Not There’.  This is rounded out with the warbling hit ‘Linger’ from The Cranberries, not a song I’m a fan of but it sparks some hope that one day we will get ‘Zombie‘.

The usual pricing and release structure applies, with the Ministry pack costing 440microsoftpointslogosmall/$5.50 and all songs being available individually for 160microsoftpointslogosmall/$2 each when they are released via Xbox Live on Tuesday and PSN on Thursday.

Full tracklisting with video links after the break.

EeePC Too Big For You? Try The UMID mbook M1

Author: Rees | Date: May 24, 2009

UMID mbook 1

Netbooks eh? I remember when the first 7″ EeePC came out, and even it’s puny 800MHz processor and useless 7″ screen didn’t prevent it from taking the world by storm. In fact, pretty much anyone who’s anyone makes a netbook these days, so to really stand out from the crowd UMID decided they’d go one smaller.

Their wee beastie, catchingly called the mbook M1, boasts a not-too-shabby 1.33GHz Atom CPU, 512MB of RAM, 16-32GB of SSD, a 1.3MP webcam, and respectable 5 hour battery life. It looks like a teeny weeny little laptop, but when you realise that the screen’s actually 4.8″ (roughly the same as a PSP), and the the person in the photo above must have really tiny hands, you realise just what a portable piece of kit this really is. It’s also touchscreen, which makes up for the lack of trackpad somewhat. Read the rest of this entry »

The Week In Team Teabag: 17th – 24th May 2009

Author: Rees | Date:

dead-rising-2-denied

That’s right folks, that’s another week over (is this year going fast or what?) so it’s time to take a look at the best posts from the previous 7 days!

First up, we decided it’d be a good idea to get in on this Twitter thing. Now you can follow Team Teabag on Twitter even more easily than if you used our normal RSS feed, and even more easily than visiting our homepage every day. Now you have multiple ways to keep up to date with the best gaming, technology, and gadgets site in the world!

We also discovered that Rock Band fans will be getting treated to some Alice Cooper, as well as discovering the complete setlist for Rock Band Unplugged, and that FPS fans also had some good news as Quake Live will be getting some new maps. We found out what Half-Life 2 would look like rendered in LEGO, that Wii Fit is taking over the world, that Fallout 3 fans are getting some new goodies, and we also checked out some cool Tranformers gadgets.

Monkey Island XBLA

We also reviewed the excellent XBLA re-release of Banjo-Tooie, gave people a chance to win copies of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, and checked out lots of screenshots (part 1, part 2) from the new upcoming AvP game. We also discovered that Monkey Island is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, that we won’t be seeing Dead Rising 2 at E3 (denied!), and that, thanks to THQ, even the Queen of England herself is getting in on the Wii action – albeit in resplendent golden royal style.

Finally, to wrap the week up, we had a look at the new Shameless and Inbetweeners DVDs, as well as some Blood Bowl Star Player screenshots, we bought Team Fortress 2 for £7, and we discovered that FUEL is actually the biggest game ever made. Finally, we discovered that one of our favourite new game series, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, is coming to XBLA soon.

So, what does the coming week have in store? Stay tuned to find out.
