The Gametrak Freedom was often confused with MS’s own efforts at a motion controller for the 360 in the months leading up to E3, now of course we know that MS were working on Project Natal so what about the Gametrak Freedom?  Well that’s heading our way too.

Developed by PDP, they claim that the Gametrak Freedom will be the most versatile and accurate 3D game controller on the market, with practically any movement capable of being brought into the game using Freedom’s patent-pending ultrasonic 3D motion capture capabilities.   It’s not all roses for the Gametrak however, as you will be only be able to play games with 2 players simultaneously, any more than that and you will need to alternate between players.

The Gametrak Freedom will be shipped along with Squeeballs, a game for Xbox 360 & Wii that will utilise the motion controls offered by the Gametrak, or the standard Wiimote for the Wii.

Squeeballs are small creatures manufactured on a secret island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, before they can be sold to children around the world as toys the Squeeballs must be fully tested… to the point of destruction, and that’s where you come in as you blow up, slice, smack, punch, bowl, shoot and skim the Squeeballs through 6 main game challenges and many multiplayer challenges.

The Gametrak Freedom is due for release in October including Squeeballs for $69.99.  Check out some screens from Squeeballs and shots of the controller below.
