E3: Sony Press Conference – Mod-Nation Racers Screens & Info
Author: Vince | Date: June 2, 2009
Sony have announced the second game in their ‘Play-Create-Share’ series, an intriguing little raging game called Mod Nation Racers. Being developed by United Front studios. You’d b forgiven for thinking MNR is a standard Mario Kart clone at first glance, but the game is way bigger than that. The cars are driven by completely customisable characters which you will be able to upload and share over PSN, customisable cars that you can upload and share over PSN and will even feature a full blown track editor which will allow you to create your own tracks in minutes and, you guessed it, share them over PSN.
United Front demoed the track editor tool and created a fully functioning track with beautiful scenery in under 5 minutes. The basic road layout is as simple as driving round your sandbox and linking back to the start of the track again. then through a series of radial menus you can change surface types, add hills and lakes, weapons and even sheep!
The game employs an advanced real time physics engine for extra feel when you hit that perfect drift or send that sheep flying!
MNR is scheduled for release in 2010 exclusively on PS3.
See a ton of screenshots after the break.
