Plants vs. Zombies is a “tower defense” type game for the PC, Mac, DS, and soon, Xbox Live Arcade. It features plants and zombies, and… that’s all I know about it. Oh, it’s made by casual game kings PopCap, which has to be a good thing.
It’s already off to a fantastic start in my eyes, however, as the latest ad for the game (pictured above) is a pretty excellent parody of those rubbish Evony ads we keep seeing everywhere. Now we just need for them to parody the no.1 secret to a flat stomach, and the internet advertising parody circle will be complete.
Adblock Plus users, I pity you for missing out on this internet gold.
Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that my TTB contributions have been a little lacking as of late. I’ve not given up, far from it, but my time has been eaten up by a little side project which regulars will no doubt be aware of.
After many trials and tribulations (what does that even mean?) my long-rumoured side project has finally gone live! The name of the game is ConsoleBUZZ, and the main line of business is supplying gamers in the UK with Nintendo DS and Wii accessories – stuff like Mario Kart wheels, Wii Fit accessories, DS cases, flash carts, that type of thing. As a special launch offer to show my love for the world, shipping is FREE!
So head on over there right now and make me feel like demeaning myself with this shameless plug (and thinly-veiled exercise in SEO) was actually all worth it. DS Lite, DSi, and Wii accessories ahoy!
Designing fighting games is just too easy. That’s what Fighter Maker developers ASCII thought when they brought out this abomination for Windows and PlayStation back in 1999. It let players design their very own 3D beat-em-up, and, well, it royally sucked, as you can see.
If you’re an avid crocheter, or you know one, perhaps you can get some of these lovely Lemmings-inspired toys whipped up. I’ve never seen any official Lemmings-inspired toys, but seeing these just makes realise that it would have made so much sense.
The legendary Seattle based indie record label Sub Pop have become the first to announce their full support of the upcoming Rock Band Network that is scheduled to go live this fall. The company is aiming to make as much of its back catalogue as possible available for download as soon as the service is lauched and the songs approved, this includes material from iconic grunge acts like Nirvana, Mudhoney & Sonic Youth and newer acts like The Shins and The Postal Service.
In a recent Rolling Stone interivew Sup Pop A&R exec and avid RB fan Tony Kiewel said this on the situation:-
Twitter user shastabeast has revealed his unashamedly geeky tattoo to the world. The piece, called ‘Our Lady, Protector of Samus’, sees Nintendo’s hard as nails Metroid heroine permanently inked on his forearm, something he may live to regret in 30 years time, but one not as much as this lady…
So what do you think, art or geeky trash? Discuss…
Check this guy out… His name’s Alex Walton (I went to school with an Alex Walton… It wasn’t this guy) and he’s better than you at Rock Band. He’s actually even better than Vince and I at Rock Band, which is quite a feat if I do say so myself.
Watch Mr. Walton play all four instruments simultaneously and achieve 3 stars in The Ramones’ Blitzkreig Bop, and you’ll realise why it’s people like him that are getting all the women while you sit at home and play Killzone 2.
Back in 1994, before EA snapped up exclusivity of just about every sporting series in existence, the now defunct Midway made some of the most user friendly basketball games ever known, in the form of NBA Jam & NBA Hangtime.
Keen on raising awareness for another of their franchises, Midway created the above Mortal Kombat themed ‘kourt’ to be included in one of the games as an unlockable bonus in the home console versions. Sadly the NBA poo-pooed the idea and so the level never saw the light of day. MK co-creator Ed Boon, who revealed the image via his Twitter feed, said this about the level:-
“Would’ve been fun!”
Would’ve been fun indeed, especially in they snuck a MK team in their too. Just imagine this, Charles Barkley is about to go for the dunk, when all of a sudden “get over here” as Scorpion harpoons him and drags him across the length of the court and uppercuts his head off and clean through the basket… 2 points. I’d have paid good money for that!
Not much has been said about the family friendly Lego Rock Band since it was announced, and so far only 8 songs had been confirmed for the games pop themed setlist. Well that is no more as Warner, who are handling the publishing of the game, have announced another 5 songs for the game:-
Jabba the Hut, intergalactic crime lord and lover of cute furry bunnies if this picture is to be believed… The cute little Jabba you see above is part of the Stitch Wars exhibition currently running at the Bear and Bird gallery in Lauderhill, Florida. The exhibition showcases handmade goods based on the Star Ware universe, an extensive gallery of which can be seen here, and will run until 29th August so don’t miss your chance to own some of these very “unique” items.
