This Week in Rock Band: 3×3 Edition

Author: Vince | Date: July 13, 2009

the-dead-weatherIt’s a track pack bonanza with this weeks DLC for Rock Band as we get 3 track packs of 3 songs from 3 artists.  The lucky acts are NWBHM legends Judas Priest, Jack White’s (of White Stripes fame) side project The Dead Weather and late 80’s Boston born indie quartet Big Dipper.

If you were hoping for ‘Breaking the Law‘ in the Judas Priest pack then prepare to be disappointed, as what we are getting are 3 songs from the bands new live album ‘A Touch of Evil: Live’ which was recorded over the last 3 years of touring since original vocalist Rob Halford rejoined the band, and whilst they are some quality tunes they are likely to be songs nobody but Judas Priest & Slayer fans will have heard of and a live rendition of a track from their latest studio offering.  I’m always dubious about live tracks in RB as they can often differ wildly from the original version of the song.

The Dead Weather is Jack White’s new “supergroup”, consisting of the man himself, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs.  The bands debut album, Horehound, is out this week and to celebrate 3 tracks from the album will be available as DLC including the two singles so far: ‘Hang Your Head From the Heavens’ and ‘Treat Me Like Your Mother’.

Each pack will be available for a cost of 440microsoftpointslogosmall/$5.50 or you can purchase any of the tracks individually for the regular 160microsoftpointslogosmall/$2 each when the songs are released on Tuesday via XBox Live and Thursday via PSN.
