Are you in a band and wondering whose leg you have to hump to get your music into Rock Band? Well good news, MTV & Harmonix have revealed the ‘Rock Band Network’, a system that will allow artists to upload their own music for download from the ingame store. Currently in the closed beta stage of development, it will go into open beta this August exclusively on Xbox 360 and will roll out on PS3 and Wii before the end of the year.
More details on how the system works after the break.
The system will work by taking the stems from any master recording and create MIDI charts for each instrument using Reaper Digital Audio Workstation software equipped with free authoring plugins on your home computer and test the track on your Xbox 360 to make sure its up to scratch.
When you’re satisfied with your track, you can upload it to the site so that the community can evaluate it. Anyone in the ‘Creators community’ will be able to download and audition you songs on their own Xbox consoles and give valuable feedback that will help make the track as fun and challenging as possible.
Once you and your peers agree that your song is ready for the primetime you will be able to submit it for peer review, and when your song is approved it will go straight into publication, available for purchase to millions of Rock Band fans in the Rock Band store and on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Even more details are available on the official website.
