This Week in Rock Band: Talking Heads Go Underground Edition

Author: Vince | Date:

Talking+Heads++1

It’s a British blowout for this weeks Rock Band DLC as we see tracks from Talking Heads, The Jam and Oasis hit the download store alongside tracks from US stars Rage Against The Machine and Avenged Sevenfold.

We are treated to 5 more songs from Rory Byrne’s legendary group Talking Heads to join the critically acclaimed ‘Psycho Killer’ that was included on the RB2 disc.  Amongst the tracks are two of the songs that brought the band to prominence, their breakthrough single ‘Take Me to the River’ and the classic ‘Once in a Lifetime’, but no ‘Burning Down the House‘ curiously.  I smell a Talking Heads Pack 02 in the distance.

Alongside Talking Heads we are treated to 2 tracks from British ‘mod‘ legends The Jam, who contribute 2 of their biggest hits to the games ever growing track listing, ‘Going Underground’ and ‘A Town Called Malice’, which will hopefully mark the start of a long a fruitful relationship.  Also appearing this week is the band that is accused of ripping The Jam (and The Beatles) off, the recently disbanded Oasis who are contributing a live version of ‘Supersonic’, which originally appeared on the bands debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’.

The Talking Heads pack will be available as a bundle for 680microsoftpointslogosmall/$8.50, whilst all of the songs will be available individually for the usual 160microsoftpointslogosmall/$2 when they are released on Tuesday via Xbox Live and Thursday on PSN.

Full tracklisting with video links after the break.

EVE Online’s largest player-controlled bank, Ebank, has been forced to freeze all accounts after it was discovered that they are 1.2 trillion ISK (Inter Stellar Kredits) in the red, and that debt is growing by 12 billion ISK per month.  This means that until the bank is looking healthier no withdrawals are possible and no interest will be paid, Ebank Chairman Ray McCormack explained that “withdrawals will be allowed once the bank achieves a maintainable equity status of 90% (1.8t currently); they will be stopped again should that fall below 80%.”.

Video: Zombie Kurt Is Back For Guitar Hero 5 Outing

Author: Rees | Date:

Kurt Cobain was well-known for his hatred of all things commercial, and his utter disgust at the proceeds of his band’s success being used to line fat cat record producers’ pockets. In fact, all that fame and fortune ultimately resulted in his suicide.

So I’m sure you’ll forgive that loud rotating sound coming from the direction of the late, great Mr. Cobain’s grave while watching this video of his resurrection for Guitar Hero 5. I’m sure he’d have appreciated getting his music heard by an all new audience, but using his image to sell a game?

Probably not so much. “Rape Me” indeed.

To Chip Or Not To Chip? Hardware-Less Wii Hack Developed [UPDATED]

Author: Rees | Date:

Wii Homebrew Channel Is Not For Piracy!

I remember a time when you needed to physically modify your console to get it to play anything but retail games. Well, with the Wii it seems that this is no longer a necessity, as this guide on Lifehacker* will get your little white console up and running with all the latest homebrew goodies, DVD playback, and, er, anything else, in less than 10 minutes.

It’s simply a case of dragging and dropping some files onto an SD card, popping it in, and running them. You can even install software which will let you rip all of your games to an external HDD – couple it with one of those bus-powered 2.5″ enclosures and you’ve got the ideal “go anywhere” party gaming solution.

Those homebrewers, eh?

-

* UPDATE

This guide didn’t work on my Wii running the very latest Wii Menu (version 1.4E). I guess even Lifehacker fail sometimes!

You can install the homebrew channel and use WAD Manager to install all those Wii WAD files you get all over the internet, even on the latest menu, without downgrading or otherwise damaging your Wii using this guide on yafaze.com. Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter and all will be OK.

Dutch retailer InterToys are running ads giving Gran Turismo 5 a November 2nd release date along with what they claim the box art will be.  Of course until Sony break their silence and announce the release date for themselves this is just speculation, but they are leaving it late if November 2nd is true.
