New Sonic Game Coming In 2010… And It’s 2D!
Author: Rees | Date: September 10, 2009This is a teaser trailer for a new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game coming out next year. Codenamed Project Needlemouse, nothing else is known about the game other than the fact that it’ll be 2D, high definition, and more than likely feature the blue hedgehog himself in the starring role.
This should come as excellent news to Sonic fans who’ve been anxiously waiting for such a game for decades, only to be given the same old “Sonic and Friends (and sometimes weapons)” 3D crap that Sega keeps insisting on spewing out year on year. Of course, as Mega Man 9, highly successful indie games like Castle Crashers and Braid, and of course the upcoming new Super Mario Bros. game prove, there’s still a demand for these 2D games even in the 21st Century.
So remember Sonic Team – no guns, no stupid sidekicks (except maybe Tails and/or Knuckles, everyone likes those guys), and keep up the pace, and you’re on to a winner!
